INTRODUCTION

Hello everybody, Josh here with the in-depth review of the Aegis Boost Plus kit by Geekvape! As you may have noticed straight off the bat, this device continues the theme of being IP67, making it a fully waterproof, shockproof and dust proof pod kit; Something which has always given Geekvape the advantage in the area of durability.

The Aegis Boost Plus follows up from the original boost, but is this just another plug fill in the market or have Geekvape gone and perfected their design from their predecessor? Let's delve in and found out!....

First Impressions

On first unboxing the Geekvape Aegis Boost Plus kit, you'll notice the common theme if you've ever owned or used any other Aegis device. The Boost Plus feels extremely durable thanks to the quality of the build and inclusion of IP67 technology making the device waterproof, shock proof and dust proof. The pod doesn't feel as strong but with this being replaceable it wouldn't be something to particularly worry about if it was to break which I honestly still think you would struggle to do.

The device is bigger than the original Boost pod kit but nothing majorly different regarding size. The materials including a leather-covered foam grip to allow for an ergonomic grip and something you grab tightly without worrying about any movement.

Geekvape have increased the size from their original to a 0.96" TFT colour screen, however the text does still appear small which isn't ideal for those who require glasses and don't always have them at hand. It's rather disappointing as with the additional room they now have with a larger screen I personally think they could have made better use from it, but don't let that take away from how well designed this pod kit is throughout.

The fire button is nice and clicky with no rattle, however the other buttons on the device to rattle a little but nothing to worry about overall. One thing I really do like about the device is the pod which easily snaps in and out with the push of a button meaning there's less chance of your pod falling out like others which rely solely on magnets. In addition to the pod being secured safely, the battery is also tucked away with the use of a fold-out latch which is accessed via screwing in or out.

Navigation on the Aegis Boost Plus is what you'd expect with a full range of additional adjustments:

• Five clicks of the fire button turns the device on/off
• Three clicks of the fire button enters settings menu
• One click of the fire button whilst in settings menu moves cursor to select area
• Up and down change parameters
• Long press of the fire button exits settings menu
• Up and down changes wattage or temperature
• Up and down together lock the screen
• Fire and down together decreases brightness
• Fire and up together increases brightness
• Fire and up and down together activates stealth
• Three clicks of the fire button then holding both up and down to change colour

So alongside the very extensive navigational menus and excellent build quality in mind, does the Aegis Boost Plus vape just as good as the predecessors from Geekvape?....

POD & How It Vapes

The Geekvape Aegis Boost Plus pod kit comes with two pre-built coils in the box, the 0.4ohm & 0.6ohm mesh coils, which are also compatible with the original Boost, great news if you're upgrading from that device! One thing to note however is that the pod will not be compatible with both devices as the Boost Plus is a larger pod size. We've covered the pod itself in-depth now so let's look into how the coils perform themselves!....

0.4ohm Mesh Coil

The G Coil Boost Formula 0.4-ohm mesh coil comes pre-installed in the Boost Plus with recommended wattage between 25W-33W. I tested both coils with 3mg Blackcurrant Lemonade Ice. I began testing this coil through DTL with the airflow fully open at the bottom end of the recommended at 25W, and it was almost perfect, it wasn't until the top end of the recommended spectrum at 33W the flavour really came to life.

In my opinion this was the perfect wattage however it still didn't satisfy me as a DTL device. Although stating this, with the airflow closed half way and the wattage set to 30W the flavour was excellent, I got the fruity blackcurrant on the inhale with a nice ice finish on the exhale and was great for MTL vaping.

0.6ohm Mesh Coil

The G Coil Boost Formula 0.6ohm mesh coil comes with a recommended wattage of between 15W-25W. I used the same 3mg Blackcurrant Lemonade Ice e-liquid for this coil to make the comparison fair. Just like that of the 0.4ohm coil, the flavour seemed to be best at the higher end of the scale regarding recommended wattage. I got a nice restricted DTL vape with the airflow half closed but the flavour definitely stood out a lot more in the 0.4ohm coil.

Although not being my favourite coil, the 0.6ohm still provided a pleasant vape throughout. Neither coil created any leaking or condensation throughout my testing, this may be down to what Geekvape call "ultrasonic technology" which creates a "perfect zero-condensation tendency" which amongst the jargon must mean it's condensation free!

Overall the coils provided great flavour, however it still isn't a pod kit I would truly use as a DTL device, especially compared to the likes of the RGC coil that comes with the Smok Fetch Pro pod kit.

Refilling the Pod

The Aegis Boost Plus pod is very simple to refill and does not require removal of the pod to fill:

• Pull out the rubber plug on the slot
• Add Your Favourite E-Liquid From Royal Flush Vape
• Press the rubber plug back carefully yet firmly

Final Thoughts

Overall the Geekvape Aegis Boost Plus pod kit is an excellent, well designed and robust device much like the others in the Aegis series. Although this device is not the best in regard to DTL vaping, it still provides and great restricted DTL flavour throughout the coils lifespan and is rather good for MTL vaping too. The robustness is definitely a highlight for this pod kit and is a great new addition to the pod kits currently available.

It's a shame that the screen can be hard to read at times and the non inclusion of Type-C charging capabilities, but if you're looking for something to stand up to the test of time then then the Aegis Boost Plus could be the device you're looking for!
